Free-Standing PolesTwo different sets of free-standing poles are available. One set is made from curly maple and Brazilian cherry, while the other set is made from curly maple with purple heart and padauk accents. Due to their weighted bases, these sets are extremely sturdy. The upper brackets are adjustable, enabling the poles to accommodate different sizes of fabrics, so a family heirloom or "Bubbie's large tablecloth" could be used.
Prices for free-standing chuppahs include delivery, set-up, and disassembly. The total price will generally be $1150, based on four hours between set-up and disassembly, for weddings located within Washington, DC, and nearby in Maryland and Virginia. Additional time is billed at $95 per hour. |
Hand-Held PolesThese poles are designed for those wishing to include more family members or friends in the ceremony. They have been built to be relatively light so that anyone can support them: they rest on the ground and only need to be held upright. Rental is $525 with your pick-up and return to Silver Spring, MD. If you'd like delivery and pick-up at your venue please add $125 to the rental fee.
These poles can also be equipped with special weighted bases to be used as free-standing poles, perfect for lighter fabrics such as a tallit. Rental is similar to those of the free-standing poles detailed to the left - $1150 with set-up and delivery. |
Finials
All free-standing and hand-held poles can be used with decorative finials representing traditional Jewish themes: a kiddish cup for ritual; a pomegranate representing righteousness and fruitfulness; a house representing the couple's home together; and a book representing knowledge and lifelong learning. Also available for hand-held poles are "double-ball" finials.
Fabrics and Flowers
If you don't have a fabric of your own, I can supply beautiful hand-crocheted fabrics in two sizes or a choice of talleisim if you want a more traditional look. When a tallis or smaller fabric is used, it hangs between the poles rather than resting on and over the poles. The poles can also be decorated with flowers or additional fabrics, depending on your wishes.
Process
Feel free to contact me to ask all the questions you like, visit me if you wish, and if you decide to rent the poles, just let me know. I'll send a confirmation email containing our understandings - date, location, time of ceremony, set-up time, type of chuppah, etc. That's it! Your chuppah arrangements are taken care of, and you can now concentrate on other aspects of your wedding. I'll coordinate with the venue and/or your wedding planner and a florist if you wish. When you arrive at the venue, your chuppah will be ready for the ceremony.
